The 3 storey IAR building will be completed in the later half of 2007. It sits facing the Illinois Executive
Mansion in one of Springfield’s central historic districts. The building has been designed to compliment the
Mansion and complete the streetscape on the east. The architect’s design takes good advantage of this location,
maximizing the views both across the street and also to the Capitol dome, only 3 blocks away. From its upper
floor offices and major meeting spaces a protected terrace further enhances views to the panorama.
The building includes 30,000 square feet with no basement. An existing utility easement kept the southern 1/3 of
the site open for landscaping and parking. The main pedestrian entrance and lobby is used as a large exhibit space.
Executive offices and all circulation on the upper floors open from a large semicircular public space on each floor.
The Association will use the building to provide professional services to its 60,000 members and advocate for private
property rights.
